Session Before The Scenes - 12 Sept 2010 rehearsal

After having separate rehearsals for the past two weeks, we all (well almost all, some went to Singapore, others just disappeared without a word... mysterious cast members we have) came back to play all six scenes. We didn't do Scene 7 cos' some of the casts had to leave early.

For the last two rehearsals, Patrick had led us to do some emoting sessions and this Sunday was no exception. As can be seen, everyone was getting into it. However, most of us are still treating it as a joke instead of serious business with the many smiles on our faces when we were supposed to be sad, disappointed, broke and in fear????

The clips below will show you some of the emotions all of us were told to feel and express...

Learning to emote

Disappointment

Interacting with others

When someone is shooting people around you?

When you become an overnight millionaire

And then become a bankrupt the next day...

Scene 1 - 12 Sept 2010 rehearsal

We have almost the whole show done up this rehearsal. What we still haven't done are the Theme Song at the beginning and the end, the voice-over before Scene 1. We still need the powerpoint slides and also music to synchronise properly and wa la, we have our production.

Guys, watch the videos closely and see where you need to improve.

We are happy as commitment of some of the casts has been increasing. Some have been having their own practices besides the Sundays in order to bring to life this very important tale of Thomas More.

Sorry that the videos are shot on low resolution, as it is much faster for uploading. Use this as a guide...
Blessed week ahead ...God Bless!!!

Best of luck to those sitting for their major exams this month. We'll pray for you.

Simple Lad-4Sept2010 Rehearsal

The video above is the first recording after we tried to get the square dance and skipping timing right. We also did some warm-ups before the actual practice. We experienced a massive improvement from previous rehearsals when everyone had their own timing and style instead of a synchronized routine. Praise God that with renewed vigor, we are improving and moving forward for Simple Lad. Now we need to get the street people scene before the dance begin right. For now, still a bit blur...

Will upload another video of the same dance which was done just after this one. I can see a slight improvement. Moral of the story... Practice, practice and more practice lor.

I just returned from the 5 Sept rehearsal and somehow the Simple Lad routine was not as good. One of the reason was two of the actors/dancers were absent for the night before practice. When they came today, they had to learn the steps and were not sure, causing a little confusion for the rest.
Also when there's confusion the entire energy of the team dips... so that's why full turn-up for rehearsals are so so important. I know there are times it can't be avoided, but I know that with some car-pooling, the situation could have worked out. So I hope in future, if transport is a problem cos' parents have gone somewhere please do inform us earlier so that a solution could be found.
Let's work together to make this a success for the Lord, Amen!

P.S. The street people scene has improved though... didn't manage to take the video as there were so many new scenes never before taken that needed to be shot for reference later.

Lover Of Us All - 29Aug10 rehearsal

Practice makes perfect... that's true as you can see from these two videos. The one above was done just after the choreography of the song Lover of Us All. The one below is after two more practices. Can you see the difference. I surely can.

I'm assured that as we all put our hearts into it and work in unity as one body, we will achieve the desired standard we need to bring home the message of Thomas More's life story.

Cup Of Life/This Is Jesus - 29Aug2010 rehearsal

Hi all, I am truly excited that as we continue our journey together as God's instruments, telling this important message of Thomas More, an incredible hero of our Catholic Faith, that technology has once again come in handy.

It just came to me last Sunday to video each dance and later each important scene so that the actors can see how they performed and improved from it. Kinda like our very own reality tv.... so better do your best every rehearsal.

I must say, everyone did their best and there was an overall improvement, although we have a long long way to go, right?

For those who did not come for the last rehearsals, we explored our different emotions and how to get in tune with them. For example, when we were sad with a sudden death of a loved one, how our facial expressions and body language changed and emoted. Then we had to switch to the most exciting moment of our lives in a split second ... exercising our expression muscles.

Some of us who were really into it - even spread the contagious enthuasiasm to others... great job.

Although, we had together experienced many obstacles, challenges (and I'm sure more to come if this is life as we know and live it) I am most comforted as I know for sure that God is with us and if He is with us who can be against us. So watch out those of you who are .... hahaha.

Happy Merdeka!!! May the example of Thomas More be modelled in our lives... Amen!
